Education Partnership

Welcome to St. Benedict School. We are happy you have chosen St. Benedict for the education of your children. Naturally, we hope you will be happy, too, with that decision. So let us assure you that the faculty, staff, and administration will work very hard to provide the best education possible, by using as a foundation the curriculum created by the Diocese of Toledo and approved by the Department of Education and the state of Ohio.

Parents (that’s you) are a very important part of that education process. We look to you as the primary educators of your children who will partner with us to do the best for your child.  We also have a very dedicated PTO that is always looking for more great parents!

We look forward to nurturing that partnership through academic, religious, cultural, and extra-curricular offerings at St. Benedict Catholic School.

Dress Code

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are expected to follow the dress code (Preschool students are not required to wear uniforms). Parents/guardians are encouraged to help enforce this dress code. School uniforms can be purchased through our preferred vendor, Schoolbelles, which is located on Monroe St. in the Hobby Lobby Plaza. Our code is s2415.

For our complete dress code, please refer to the handbook here.

Schoolbelles is now carrying two spirit wear shirts for sale featuring our new raven logo! They can be found under Athletic Wear.

For a wider selection, spirit wear can also be purchased from our PTO spirit wear fundraisers held twice a year.

Athletics

Sponsored by Little Flower and Our Lady of Lourdes Parishes, St. Benedict Catholic School fields teams are in all sports including: football, volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, track and field, and cross-country. Boys and girls teams are formed in those sports, by grades, and compete in traditional Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) programs.

We are now using FinalForms for all athletics. If parents are interested in having their child participate they will need to register online at:

https://toledodiocese-oh.finalforms.com/

Please contact our athletic director, Maureen Bishop at 419-531-1907 with any questions.

Scholarship Oppportunity

We accept the Ohio Ed Choice Expansion Scholarship. The expanded eligibility guidelines provide all families in Ohio with an income up to 450% of the federal poverty level to qualify for a full Ed Choice Scholarship to be applied toward your St. Benedict School tuition. In addition, families that earn over the 450% of the federal poverty level will qualify for a reduced scholarship amount. As income increases, the scholarship amount decreases. In other words, there is no longer a cut off of household income for the Ed Choice Expansion scholarship and the scholarship is not dependent on your local public school district of residence. Please see the income chart below to gauge your eligibility level.

For the application process we will need

1. The completed application form (enclosed) One per child
2. Proof of address which is a utility statement (electric, gas, water, sewer, cable/internet,
NO CELL PHONE BILLS), all pages, with your name and billing and mailing address on it.
3. An OH/ID account that you create on the Ohio Department of Education website in order to download proof of income to the ODE website. We can help you with this process!
4. Income Verification form (coming soon, when ODE updates the form)
5. Proof of income which would be:
• your 1040 pg. 1-2 OR
• 4 most recent pay stubs.
• (If you are self-employed, you need to submit your entire tax form)
• You only need to provide income verification once. This is no longer a yearly requirement.

It is expected that the Ohio Department of Education will receive many applications and they will be reviewed in the order that they are received. The Ed Choice offices are closed until the end of July. We are hoping that we can get your paperwork ready so that when they open, you will be able to apply for your scholarship. Our business office has stopped payments through our FACTS system for tuition for our families with students in grades K-8. At or below 450% FPL is 100%tuition scholarship.
