St. Benedict Catholic School

A Strong Start Begins Early

At St. Benedict Catholic School, our full-day preschool and Kindergarten programs are designed to give students a joyful, confident start to their school journey. In a nurturing classroom rooted in Catholic values, children are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, and socially through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Academics with Purpose
Our curriculum builds strong foundations across all core subjects:

Social and Emotional Growth
Building confidence and kindness as children learn to understand feelings, manage emotions, and get along with others.

Religion: Faith is woven throughout the day, with simple prayers, Bible stories, and lessons about God’s love, kindness, and gratitude.

Fine Motor & Executive Skills: Cutting, writing, organizing, and following multi-step directions are practiced daily to prepare children for independent learning.

Reading & Writing: Students develop early literacy through phonics, handwriting, and a love of books.

Math: We build number sense through games, manipulatives, and real-world problem solving—focusing on counting, patterns, basic operations, and number relationships.

Science: Children explore the world with experiments and discovery-based units like weather, seasons, life cycles, and the five senses.

Social Studies: We introduce community, family, holidays, helping students understand their place in the world and develop respect for others.

Strong Foundations, Proven Outcomes
St. Benedict students consistently perform above local and national averages on standardized tests. While test scores aren’t the only measure of success, they reflect the strength of our academic program and our commitment to preparing children for long-term achievement.

Whether mixing colors, building with blocks, or exploring outdoors, our early learners stay engaged in hands-on experiences that spark imagination, strengthen problem-solving, and build social skills.

Full week school with wrap around care

Designed for Families

In today’s changing world, consistency matters more than ever — especially for young children.

We understand the realities our working families face. The predictable schedules support learning and family routines. Our extended care program eliminates the stress of piecing together childcare, provides a safe supervised environment and provides peace of mind for parents.

St. Benedict offers:
• A traditional 5-day school week
• Free before-school care starting at 7:00 AM
• Affordable After-school care until 6:00 PM ($4.25 an hour billed to the minute)
• Strong teacher-student relationships

Affordable Tuition, Reliable Transportation

Many families assume Catholic school is out of reach — but EdChoice changes that.

St. Benedict accepts Ohio EdChoice Scholarships, which:
• Cover most or all tuition for many families
• Are available to all Ohio families
• Does not require students to be Catholic

Our admissions team helps families understand eligibility and walks them through the process step by step. For many families, a Catholic education at St. Benedict costs little to nothing.

We also know that transportation is often a deciding factor for families.
Currently, Toledo Public Schools and Sylvania Public Schools provides busing to St. Benedict, removing a major barrier for working parents and making attendance easier and more accessible. Springfield Public Schools offer a payment in lieu of transportation for each child.(Transportation availability is subject to district policies.)

Admissions Process

Our enrollment process begins with a brief application, allowing us to learn more about your student and family. Once your application is reviewed, you will be notified via email regarding our decision based on available space.

If your application is accepted, you will receive a link to our online enrollment packet. To complete the enrollment process, you must fill out and submit the packet online. Please note that your enrollment is not finalized until the packet is submitted. Additionally, a $125 non-refundable family registration fee is required at the time of enrollment.

We encourage families to enroll early, as space is limited and some grades may have waitlists. Applications for new students are prioritized in the following order, based on available space:

Families from Little Flower and Our Lady of Lourdes parishes
Catholic families from other parishes, particularly those without elementary schools
Non-Catholic families of other faiths who value a Catholic education

We look forward to welcoming your family to our St. Benedict community!

How much is tuition?

Tuition per student at St Benedict Catholic School for the 2026-2027 school year is $7,650.

2026-2027 K-8 Ed Choice Scholarship

The Ed Choice Expansion program has expanded its eligibility to include every student in the State of Ohio! The expanded eligibility guidelines provide all families in Ohio with an income up to 450% of the federal poverty level to qualify for a full Ed Choice Scholarship to be applied toward your St. Benedict Catholic School tuition. In addition, families that earn over 450% of the federal poverty level will qualify for a reduced scholarship amount. As income increases, the scholarship amount decreases. In other words, there is no longer a cut-off of household income for the Ed Choice Expansion scholarship and the scholarship is not dependent on your local public school district of residence. The value of a full EdChoice Scholarship for K-8 is $6,166/student.
