“Whoever welcomes this child in my name, welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, also welcome the one who sent me.” Each day we have the privilege of welcoming our students to classrooms where God calls them to live, learn and love. The secular world is filled with messages that contradict the Gospel values of love and peace. When our students walk in the doors of St. Benedict Catholic Schools, they encounter an environment that reflects this belief: “Be it known to all who enter here That CHRIST is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.”

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”                                                                                            Hebrews 3: 7-8                                                                         Each year, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) encourages the Catholic schools in the United States to set aside a week to celebrate.  Catholic Schools Week helps us focus on the value Catholic education provides to our students and their families and well as the contributions to our church, our community and our nation.  This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”  Activities for students, families, parish communities and teachers are being planned for January 27 – February 3, 2019 and a list of events will be sent home in next week’s Thursday envelope.  We look forward to celebrating with you!

“After this I had a vision of a great multitude….From every nation, race, people, and tongue” Revelation 7:9 Yesterday, many of our students and children we know dressed up as their favorite superhero to celebrate Halloween. Today we are privileged to have the opportunity to celebrate and remember some real superheroes… the saints. A saint is any person who is now in heaven with Jesus, working on our behalf to ensure that we will someday take our place there with them. As we celebrate the Feast of All Saints, let us remember our real superheroes who have the power to intercede for us in the only thing that really matters… being with Jesus for eternity. Morning Drop-off THANK YOU to all who are following the requested safe morning drop off procedures. When dropping students off at the gym doors, there should be ONE line of traffic along the sidewalk. THAT

“I thank my God for all the memories I have of you. Every time I pray for all of you, I do it with joy.” Philippians 1:3-4 My heart is filled with joy as I have received so many remembrances and expressions of sympathy on the loss of my sweet mom! She was a woman of great faith and always helped me not only in life but also in my vocations as teacher and principal. She always had encouraging advice and guidance for me as we spoke often about the needs and challenges my students have faced over the years. She loved hearing my stories about the cute and clever things that students have done and said at school. My mom was also a constant source of prayer for the many families and children I have served, even though she never personally knew the vast majority of them. Thank you

“…Though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ And we are all joined to each other different parts of one body. Romans 12:5 Family Life Groups One of the things we celebrate at St. Benedict Catholic School is our rich diversity that makes us a complete family. Each of has different gifts that we can contribute for the good of all. We continually work on life skills and incorporating the works of mercy into our daily lives. One way to accomplish this is through Family Life Groups. Once a month, small groups of mulit- age students meet with a staff member who is the FLG facilitator. Together, the group participates in fun, themed activities to promote cooperation, team building and respourcefulness. FLG provide an opportunity to get to know other teachers and students outside the individual grade or classroom. Tomorrow, Friday, September 28th is our first

“I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace he has given you through Christ Jesus.” I Corinthians 1:4 Thanks to all the families who have returned to school the requested beginning of the year forms. If you have not yet done so, please return them as soon as possible. State and Federal Programs St. Benedict Catholic School (as well as other non-public schools in the state of Ohio) has access to some state and federal funding for educational programs for our students. Though the funding is limited, it provides us opportunities like our wonderful school nurse, counselor, speech therapist and intervention specialist as well as Title I teachers that we otherwise may not have. The formula for funding requires an accurate account of low income family eligibility. While we recognize this as being very sensitive, it truly benefits the entire school population. We pledge to

“We appreciate what you’ve done in every way and in every place, And we want to thank you very much. Acts 24:3 Could it possibly be true? Another school year is coming to an end? The activities and energy in the air tell me it’s so. Even though it is ending, the year has been one of great achievement and accomplishment. Students have demonstrated tremendous growth both academically and spiritually. Setting learning goals and differentiating instruction enables students to achieve more. Providing students the opportunities to practice the works of mercy helps deepen their understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. We are proud of the accomplishments of all our students. As we head into the summer months, please keep these areas of growth in mind. As with any seeds that are planted, they need to be watered in order to continue growing. Please continue to

“We can never thank God enough for all the joy you give us as we rejoice in God’s presence.” 1 Thessalonians 3:9 As we celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week, I would like to personally take a moment to share my deep gratitude and respect for the teachers and support staff at St. Benedict Catholic School. They unselfishly give of their time, talent, and treasure to carefully nurture the gifts God has given to our students, not only academically but spiritually and emotionally as well. It is an honor for me to serve with all of our teacher-ministers and staff every day. Thank you for all the parental support given them all through the year. Registration Classes for the 2018-2019 school year are quickly filling.
